What are Chakras?
I'm all about energy healing and our Chakras take a big part in that. In my research on Chakras through the years and connecting with my own, I still find it really important to connect with them.Â
The word “Chakra” comes from the ancient Sanskrit language, meaning “wheel” or “disk.” Chakras are believed to be spinning centers of energy located along the spine, through which life force energy—also called prana or chi—flows. Each Chakra functions like a dynamic vortex, constantly shifting in energy and frequency. These centers can be balanced, underactive, or overactive, and may feel open or closed depending on our thoughts, emotions, and life experiences.
This system originated in ancient India, with its earliest references found in the Vedas, sacred texts dating back over 2,000 years. It was further developed through yogic philosophy, Tantric traditions, and Ayurvedic healing systems. Today, Chakra theory is widely used in both Eastern spiritual practices and Western energy healing modalities. Here is a website I found that I really resonated with. This guy goes more in depth of the history of Chakras and what they are. https://hareesh.org/blog/2016/2/5/the-real-story-on-the-chakras
There are seven main Chakras, each associated with different aspects of our being. For example, the Root Chakra relates to our sense of safety, stability, family, finances, and survival. It draws in, processes, and releases energy related to those themes. Every Chakra plays a similar role, shaping how we experience life on the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels.
The Chakra System serves as a powerful map of holistic wellness. It shows us how interconnected our inner world is—body, mind, and spirit. By tuning into the Chakras through reflection, meditation, or energy work, we can uncover where our energy may be blocked, stagnant, or overcharged. These imbalances often point to unresolved beliefs, traumas, or emotional weight that needs to be healed.
When we intentionally bring these energy centers into harmony, our life force begins to flow more freely. And with that shift, our outer reality often transforms as well. Healing the Chakras is ultimately a journey of self-awareness, energetic alignment, and conscious change.
